Number Two

When you're on a roll, why not keep it up? So we're happy to say that Number Two is on the way. Tentative due date is 27 September 2007, but you know how they are with those things. And though it's still too early to determine the gender, we've settled on the name “Junior”—figure it works either way. (Seemed awful nice for H.I. and Ed in Raising Arizona!)

OK, just kidding about the name.

By the way, ultrasound machines are amazing, and these stillframes hardly convey the amount of detail present. Just a few centimeters long, our baby has brains and fingers and a beating heart, even wiggles while we watch. The technicians measured baby's heart rate, too. (Check out the second picture. At top center is the heart. See the white line drawn through the upper image? Those pixels change as the heart beats and are plotted over time in the lower image. Count their oscillations per minute, and you have the heart rate.) Amazing.
