    Notes:

Lloyd Alvin Ellefson, age 94, of Luther, OK, was born on February 24, 1918, in Garretson, South Dakota. He was the second of nine children born to Lewis & Alice (Schurman) Ellefson. Lloyd went to be with the Lord Friday, June 29, 2012, in Norman, OK.

Lloyd grew up on a farm where he learned the value of hard work. Throughout his work career, he usually held two jobs. He was the first to enlist from Garretson and proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a gunner over North Africa and he received the Purple Heart and other medals for valor. Lloyd was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base near the end of WWII, where he met the lovely Mary. They were married, made their home and started their family in Oklahoma City. Lloyd was a postman in Oklahoma City, then a rural carrier for many years in Luther. He and Mary retired to Eufaula. He relied on Campho-Phenique, liked polka music, enjoyed Air Force reunions, looked forward to pheasant hunting with his brothers and he loved raising quarter horses.

Lloyd was a good man, a tender caregiver for Mary, a dependable mail carrier, and a faithful church member, but he was a terrific Granddaddy! He was the tooth fairy who would give you a silver dollar or a snakeskin. He polished toenails, made hotcakes, slept over. The memories of his love, kindness and generosity will be treasured by his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, 3 brothers, Elmer, Ted & Rodney and 3 sisters, Margaret, Irene & Shirley and granddaughter, Robyn and great-grandson, Clark. Lloyd is survived by his 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Karole & Harold
